Aide à toute détresse Quart Monde - Comments

1) The mission

-Born in Paris’ suburbs, ATD starts working in towns, mainly in France. Regarding the third world problems, the organization tries above all to raise the awareness of developed countries, rather than provide material assistance. The proportion of resources for international programs, especially for sending volunteers in 29 countries, represents 21% of the budget of ATD-France, the Aide à Toute Détresse Foundation and the Association des Equipes Sciences et Service; those three components administer about 80% of all the movement’s funds in 2001. On 361 volunteers in 2002, about 200 are permanent residents abroad where they mainly implement cultural micro-actions (street libraries, people’s universities) financed by private donations.
