Enfants Réfugiés du Monde - History

1981-1989

-From 1981, France: with Professor Alexandre Minkowski and actress Brigitte Fossey’s patronage, ERM is founded. In 1991 and 1992, the organisation, presided by Philippe Valls, is awarded twice with the Human Rights Prize of the French Republic.

-Since 1987, Israel/Palestine: in the Gaza Strip, ERM supports training courses for the children at the Khan Younis camp, namely with the Shuruq wal Amal and Bunat al Ghad youth centres, as well as the Canaan Institute of New Pedagogy. Since 1992, ERM works with the CFTA (Culture and Free Thought Association), set up by the Union of Women’s Committees representing the five main political parties of the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organisation): the Palestinian Federation of Women’s Action Committees, the Women’s Committee of Palestine, the Social Women’s Work Committee, the Palestinian Women’s Struggle Committee and the Union of Palestinian Working Women’s Committee. In so doing, ERM is quite close to the Palestinian authorities and to some of the instigators of the Intifada movement.
