1988-1989


-1988-1992, Pakistan: under the aegis of the Muslim World League, the AHF is established in Karachi by Sheikh Aqil Abdul Aziz al-Aqil, who formerly worked for the Saudi Red Crescent to help Afghan refugees. In 1992, the Foundation then moves its headquarters to Saudi Arabia, where it is officially launched with the support of Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, the governor of Riyadh and a brother of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz. Under the aegis of Aqil Abdul Aziz al-Aqil, the organization aims to operate in various Muslim countries. It does not only raise funds, but also runs its own programmes.
