Norwegian Refugee Council - Comments
1) The mission
-Abroad, NRC helps refugees who cross national borders in search of safety, as well as internally displaced persons who remain within their home country. Specialised in aid in armed conflict situations, the organisation does not only send relief but also conducts extensive research on humanitarian crisis.
-In Norway, NRC insists on linking refugees’ social services to aid programmes in war-torn countries. Yet the organisation does not represent asylum seekers. To avoid misunderstanding, in 2005, it changed its Norwegian name from “Council” (Flyktningeråde) to “Aid to Refugees” (Flyktninghjelpen).
