Comité inter-mouvements auprès des évacués - Comments

1) The mission

-In its rich and long history, the CIMADE evolved much and got more secular, losing all proselytising character: less than 1% of its financial resources still come from Church members. Today, the “mutual aid ecumenical service”, as the CIMADE is sometimes called, mainly works amongst asylum seekers, and illegal immigrants in France. Programmes abroad represent only a tiny proportion of its expenses, 6% in 2001 and 8% in 2002. In developing countries, the organisation tries to raise people’s awareness, and it seeks, in quite a creative manner, to support various migrant communities in France, in particular the Malian and Senegalese ones, that wish to develop their homelands.
