Norwegian Church Aid - Comments

3) The financial resources

-Regarding financial resources, NCA can always rely on the Church of Norway, which has a strong position in the society and is financed by taxpayers for the Constitution rules that Lutherianism is the official religion of the State. The organisation also gets some private funding from ACT (Action by Churches Together), Church congregations during Lent Campaigns, or telethons that increase significantly its income, as in 2001 and 1986. But the majority of the budget comes from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Co-operation agency NORAD. Government’s support has a logistical side too. NCA officially runs the emergency stocks of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nairobi, Addis-Ababa and Kampala.
