4) Public Relations

-NCA publishes a magazine, Kirkens Nødhjelp Magasinet! (formerly Medmenneske), to raise the Norwegian population’s awareness of development problems in the Third-world. But it does not inform against human rights violations when it fears being evicted from a country. During famine in Ethiopia in 1984 or 2000, NCA did not report aid diversion and military abuses: unlike Médecins sans Frontières, for instance, it did not denounce the way Mengistu Haile Maryam’s Marxist Junta used international assistance to deport the population from the North to the South.
 
-In a country known for the transparency of its administration, it is regrettable that the annual reports of NCA in English are not as detailed as the ones in Norwegian regarding programmes, funding and foreign partners.
