-NRC takes some positions on armed conflicts when the belligerents impede humanitarian programmes or violate International Law. In 2003, for instance, it protested against the USA’s plans to wage war on Iraq. According to its Annual report in 2003, “the deep-running distrust of American and other Western occupying forces” made humanitarian work impossible and put the lives of employees at risk.
