-February 2002, Brazil: FDH takes part in the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre. FDH has been active in Brazil for about thirty years, and it helped with the creation of the Landless Peasants’ Movement in 1985. In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, FDH also continues to support the participative democracy of the Workers Party (Partido dos Trabalhadores) in Porto Allegre through a local NGO, the CAMP (Centro de Assessoria Multi Profissional, or Center for Inter-Professional Consultancy), whose fields of action include housing and union training.
